Report: John Dorsey's job status with Browns 'in serious doubt'

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, John Dorsey's job status as the Cleveland Browns' general manager is in 'serious doubt.'

CLEVELAND — On Tuesday, the Cleveland Browns delayed a previously scheduled press conference for general manager John Dorsey.

Whether or not that press conference ever happens remains to be seen.

According to Ian Rapoport and Mike Garofolo of the NFL Network, Dorsey will meet with Browns owner Jimmy Haslam on Tuesday. Dorsey's future in Cleveland "appears to be in serious doubt" following the Browns' disappointing 6-10 season in 2019.

While Dorsey has been lauded for the job he's done in helping build the Browns roster since arriving in Cleveland at the end of the 2017 season, his hiring of head coach Freddie Kitchens -- who the team fired on Sunday -- could result in his own departure. Furthermore, for all the talent Dorsey acquired, Cleveland's roster still possesses significant holes, some of which have been self-inflicted by trades and missed draft picks.

Whether or not the Browns would look to hire a new general manager or reassign roster duties within the organization if they part ways with Dorsey remains to be seen. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Cleveland's next head coach could have significant say in who the team's next general manager would be, while Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson has speculated that Haslam could assign more responsibility to chief strategy officer Paul DePodesta.
