The Cleveland Browns' Week 8 matchup vs. the New England Patriots hasn't provided many highlights thus far.
But Denzel Ward managed to provide one of the few.
With 2:19 remaining in the first half and the Patriots leading 17-7 and lined up at the Browns' 11 yard line, New England head coach Bill Belichick sent out his field goal unit. Mike Nugent's 29-yard attempt, however, was ultimately blocked by Cleveland cornerback Denzel Ward, who showcased his freakish athleticism while saving 3 points from the Patriots' scoreboard.
After failing to score as the first half expired, the Browns entered halftime trailing the Patriots by 10 points.
Despite Ward's timely block, the Browns were unable to capitalize on the turnover and soon found themselves trailing New England 24-10 after TomBrady found Julian Edelman for the reigning Super Bowl MVP's second touchdown reception of the game. Cleveland's shaky first-half effort included a stretch in which it turned the ball over on three consecutive offensive snaps, including two Nick Chubb fumbles and a bizarre Baker Mayfield interception in which he seemed to throw the ball directly to Lawrence Guy.
Entering the fourth quarter, the Browns still trail the Patriots by 14 points and will begin the final period at its own 28-yard line.
