CLEVELAND — Have you ever tried fencing? Ever tried fencing against an Olympian? Thanks to a new activation from USA Fencing, you can do both — no trip to Paris required.

The sport's American governing body announced a nationwide campaign called "Fencing Across America," designed to expose more Americans to the sport as the world's best fencers compete at the Paris Olympics. The campaign is making two stops in the Cleveland area, with spells at Crocker Park in Westlake and Lyndhurst's Legacy Village.

“We’re bringing the Olympic and Paralympic spirit directly to the people,” said USA Fencing CEO Phil Andrews. “With Fencing Across America, we hope to inspire a new generation of fencing enthusiasts by making the sport accessible and engaging. We know fans across the country will be inspired by the incredible competition they witness from our Olympians in Paris and we want to capitalize on that momentum by giving people of all ages and abilities the opportunity to get in on the action and try their hand at a life-changing sport.”

At select locations, participants will be able to try their hand at fencing against "Olympic and Paralympic legends," USA Fencing said.

"Fencing Across America" will be at Crocker Park from Sunday through Friday, Aug. 2, and at Legacy Village from Wednesday, July 31 through Aug. 2. Hours were not made immediately available.
