Social media advances coverage of fire at Rocky River condominiums

The internet erupted with photos and images of the blaze.

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio — The impact of social media is often a controversial topic of discussion.

However, during Sunday's coverage of a large, fast-burning fire at condominiums in Rocky River, the power of social media was undeniable. 

Residents and officials from several cities took to social media to update others.

Rockport River Condominiums in Rocky River caught fire around 6 p.m. and began billowing smoke, Rocky River police confirm to 3News.

The condos, located at 18117 Hilliard Blvd, were under construction and unoccupied. 

No injuries were reported. However, there are approximately 80 customers without power as a direct result of the blaze. 

There is no time estimate for restoration at this time.
