CLEVELAND — Black Friday has come early for drivers as Sheetz is dropping its Unleaded 88 gas prices to $1.99 per gallon at all of their locations that carry the fuel grade in Ohio, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.
Sheetz says the $1.99 deal will continue at gas stations now through Monday, Nov. 27 at 11:59 p.m.

The $1.99 sale comes as GasBuddy reported early Monday that gas prices have been falling in Northeast Ohio. The average price per gallon in Cleveland and Akron is currently listed at $3.11 and $3.03, respectively.
So what is the difference with Unleaded 88?
“Unleaded 88 is gas made with 15% renewable biofuels approved for all cars 2001 and newer,” according to GasBuddy. “Many drivers currently fill up with Unleaded 87, or ‘regular’ – which contains 10% renewable biofuels.”
But it’s not made for every vehicle.
“Unleaded 88 is approved for any vehicle manufactured since 2001, but if you have a car that is older than 2001, you should not use Unleaded 88," GasBuddy explains. "Also, some small engines, such as lawnmowers, motorcycles and snowmobiles are not recommended for higher blend fuels like Unleaded 88.1"
GasBuddy also lists the following benefits of filling up with Unleaded 88:
- It burns cleaner and cooler than other fuels, which enhances engine performance1 and is kinder for the earth.
- It typically costs less than other fuels, which is good for your wallet and provides a savings of up to 10 cents per gallon on each trip to the pump.
- It emits fewer toxins than other gasoline grades and is approved by both the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
- Consumers have logged over 10 billion miles on Unleaded 88, showing that more and more consumers are making it their go-to fuel.
