Election Day in Cleveland sees record high temperatures

Weather didn't keep anyone away from the polls on Tuesday.

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, Ohio — Election Day always falls in early November, which means the weather can potentially be a factor for voter turnout.

That certainly wasn't the case this year. Aside from breezy winds, the weather couldn't have been more perfect for everyone heading out to cast their ballot. Even if anyone had to wait outside, they barely required a light jacket or extra layer.

New Record High

The low temperature for Hopkins was 65°- that's already above the average high temperatures for the first week of November. As of the 5pm numbers from the National Weather Service, the high for November 5th was 78°. That shatters the average high of 56° and means we set a new record! The previous record was 77° and was set just a couple years ago in 2022.

5 Year Of Election Day Highs

With an "average high" in the mid 50s, the weather could always be drastically different this time of year. The last November Election featured highs in the low 60s and mostly cloudy skies. The 2022 election topped out at 54° with partly cloudy skies.

November 2, 2021 was the coldest recent Election Day. The high was only 48°. The low was 36° and Hopkins actually measured a trace of snow. The 2020 election was the last Presidential Election. That year, November 3rd was near average for weather with sunshine and a high of 58°.
