CLEVELAND — Editor's note: the video in the player above is from a previously published, related weather forecast.
A flood warning has been issued by the National Weather Service of Cleveland for several Northeast Ohio counties.
Early Wednesday morning, the NWS issued the weather-related warnings for Mahoning, Trumbull, Lorain, Holmes, Wayne, Summit, and Cuyahoga counties. More alerts when into effect Thursday for parts of Erie, Lake, and Lorain counties.
The flood warnings come as Northeast Ohio experienced temps in the 50s, causing snow from over the past several weeks to finally melt on top of the rain already in the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday.
"Rapid snowmelt and rainfall coming in with the next storm system is increasing the threat for major flooding. Some areas in NE OH and NW PA have 2 to 4 inches of water in the snowpack," NWS of Cleveland tweeted out Wednesday afternoon.
Some of the warning are expected to expire early Friday morning, while others are in effect "until further notice." In addition, several local counties are now under a winter storm warning until 7 a.m. Friday.
