CLEVELAND — One of the go-to Super Bowl side dishes in Maureen Kyle's family is homemade guacamole made from fresh ingredients. She shares the basic recipe below. This can either be eaten as is, or serve as a base guacamole and you can add in any extras you see fit for game day!
EXPANDED COVERAGE: Super Bowl
Homemade chunky guacamole
4 ripe avocados
1 red onion
6 vine ripened Campari tomatoes
½ cup chopped cilantro
1 lime juiced
Start by chopping everything! Cut the avocados into chunks, dice the red onion and chop the tomatoes into small pieces.
Put all three ingredients into a mixing bowl and mash together.
Once it’s mixed, add the chopped cilantro and mix in.
Squeeze the juice of one lime on top (sometimes I use two) and mix together.
Add salt as needed.
Serve with tortilla chips.
