AKRON, Ohio — An Akron man faces a prison sentence of 20 to 25.5 years in connection with the shooting death of a woman at a bar earlier this year.
Aaron Ridenour, 29, pleaded guilty last month to the following felony charges related to the death of Tiffany Ross:
- Involuntary manslaughter with a gun
- Tampering with evidence
- Illegal possession of a firearm in a liquor permit premises
Ridenour received his prison sentence on Tuesday from Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Christine Croce. He had originally been charged with two counts of murder, in addition to the charges of tampering with evidence and illegal possession of a firearm at a liquor permit premises. As part of the plea deal, one of the murder charges was dropped while the other was amended to involuntary manslaughter.
Investigators say on April 8, Ridenour was at the Heights Bar and Grill on Newton Street in Akron with Ross and another woman. Ridenour shot Ross, tossed the gun away, and ran from the scene. Police eventually captured Ridenour hiding in the back of a pickup truck on Rhodes Avenue.
The 44-year-old Ross was transported to Summa Health Akron City Hospital, where she later died.
