According to police, Bryant Hargrove Jr. of Akron has been charged with murder in the killing of 38-year-old Jolene Decker-Keres. Hargrove, who was arrested on July 4, was arraigned in Parma Municipal Court at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

Hargrove's arrest comes more than a week after Decker-Keres' body was discovered during a welfare check at a residence in the 1100 block of Royalwood Road. Upon arriving at the brick home, police found an open window and made entry before finding Decker-Keres' body in the bedroom.

The person who requested the welfare check said that they had not heard from Decker-Keres in several weeks and noted that she lives alone. Broadview Heights Police Chief Steven Raiff told 3News at the time that it marked the first homicide in that city since 1979.

In a statement, the Broadview Heights Police Department thanked the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, the Akron Police Department, and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation for their assistance in the apprehension of Hargrove Jr.
