Police say man shot in face during alleged robbery in Cleveland Heights

The man was taken to University Hospitals where police say he remains in the ICU. The extent of his injuries is unknown and his name has not been released.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio — A 21-year-old man was taken to the hospital after authorities say he had “an apparent gunshot injury to his face” while sitting in the driver’s seat of his car on Sunday afternoon in Cleveland Heights -- and now police are searching for those responsible.

Officials say it was around 5:43 p.m. when officers responded to the scene at Heights Garden Apartments in the 1300 block of Cleveland Heights Boulevard. The victim reportedly told police he had been robbed in the parking lot.

The man was taken to University Hospitals where police say he remains in the ICU. The extent of his injuries is unknown and his name has not been released.

Authorities say there were three suspects involved – all of whom were described as teens. The primary suspect was reportedly wearing a gray-colored hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
