WILLOUGHBY HILLS, Ohio — Drivers in Lake County have been warned…
After a month-long grace period, Willoughby Hills is now going after excessive speeders with citations as officers are targeting drivers along sections of I-90 and I-271 who are going at least 15 mph over the speed limit.
Willoughby Hills Police Chief Matthew Naegele says the department is using high-tech laser cameras to capture license plates.
Drivers who are caught speeding will receive citations in the mail.
Data from ODOT shows that these sections of highways are among the worst in the state for speeding.
Chief Naegele says he hopes this is one more step toward keeping drivers traveling through Willoughby Hills safe while cutting down on accidents along I-90 and I-271.
