AKRON, Ohio — 38-year-old Jordan Dehaven has learned his fate after pleading guilty last month to charges in the death of his 41-year-old girlfriend, Amy Rowan.
Dehaven, of Akron, was sentenced to life in prison with parole eligibility after 20 years, the Summit County Prosecutor’s office announced Wednesday.
His sentence was handed down after Dehaven pleaded guilty to the following charges back on March 30:
- Aggravated murder
- Tampering with evidence
It was back on Sept. 7, 2018, when Rowan’s mother reported her missing after she was last seen at Dehaven’s home in Akron the day before.
“During police questioning, Dehaven admitted to killing Rowan and that her body was in the home’s basement,” the Summit County Prosecutor’s office said. “Investigators determined Rowan had been stabbed to death. Dehaven and Rowan were in a relationship at the time.”
In July of 2019, a judge determined that Dehaven was incompetent to stand trial and ordered treatment. By January of 2020, however, Dehaven was restored and deemed competent.
