VERMILION, Ohio — The city of Lorain’s assistant fire chief Matthew Homolya is on administrative leave after being accused of attacking his neighbor. The alleged assault from March 9 was captured on a Ring doorbell camera, which police released to 3News on Monday.
Homolya was arrested for the incident, which happened in a driveway on Gore Orphanage Road in Brownhelm Township. According to the police report, the situation started when Homolya’s dog wandered into a neighbor’s yard and was attacked by two German Shepherds. The neighbor says he went out to talk with Homolya when he was attacked himself.
The police report says an officer observed red marks on the victim’s neck and throat area with redness on the left side of his face. He declined to have EMS called to the scene.
Homolya is out on a $100,000 bond. He’s expected back in court later this month.
