MANSFIELD, Ohio — Police in Mansfield responded to multiple shooting incidents early Saturday morning, including a "chaotic" scene at the American Legion on Harmon Avenue.
Authorities say multiple cars were damaged and several people were injured in the parking lot of the American Legion just after 1 a.m. Witnesses said the suspect fired his weapon and then fled in a vehicle, resulting in one woman being run over as well as shot. She was taken to a local hospital, and later a man showed up for medical care with gunshot wounds allegedly related to the same incident.
Around the same time, officers responded to Sami's Bar on Wayne Street after a fight apparently also led to gunshots. Bystanders told investigators a man with dreadlocks fired off the rounds and fled, but that no one was hurt.
Just over an hour later, a third call for "shots fired" was made from a home on the 500 block of West 4th Street. No one was injured, but a bullet struck a car in a driveway before the suspect again sped away.
Police have not yet determined whether these incidents are related. Investigations are under way with the assistance of the Richland County Sheriff's Office.
"It is imperative that when these types of incidents occur, that the community helps in identifying those responsible for these violent acts," a police Facebook post read. "We are asking that anyone who can assist with the investigations, to please call The Mansfield Division of Police at (419) 755-9724."
