CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio — Federal authorities have arrested a man charged in a spring killing that took place in Cuyahoga Falls.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Service's Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force apprehended 28-year-old Deair Johnson, of Akron, on Friday, according to the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department. Further details regarding his capture were not immediately available.
Johnson is charged with murder, felonious assault, and discharging a firearm into a habitation in the May 26 death of 23-year-old Giovanni Stanford. The fellow Akron native was found inside a Forest Glen Drive home with multiple gunshot wounds to his head and torso, and later died at Summa Akron City Hospital.
Officials first issued a warrant for Johnson's arrest back on July 27, and at the time a $35,000 reward had been offered for information regarding the case. Records do not show when Johnson is scheduled to appear in court.
Cuyahoga Falls police and the FBI are still investigating the incident.
