LORAIN COUNTY, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol Elyria Post is conducting an investigation into a Sunday morning crash in Lorain County.
According to a press release, the single-vehicle-accident happened at the intersection of North Ridge Road and Vermillion Road in Brownhelm Township.
Officers were dispatched to the scene around 11:03 a.m. after they had received calls about a single-vehicle crash with injury.
Initial reports led officers to believe that a pick-up truck was traveling westbound on North Ridge Road when it struck a guardrail just past the intersection and then was thrown off a cliff.
When officers arrived, they found a damaged guardrail, and later found a "severely damaged" Ford F-150 on the west bank of the river in the Mill Hollow part of Lorain County's Metro Parks.
The driver of the was identified as Alec A. Koutsopoulos, 23, of Vermilion, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
