AKRON, Ohio — Two men have been hospitalized following an apparent shootout in Akron on Monday, including one with life-threatening injuries.
According to Akron Police, multiple officers responded to the 200 block of E. Cuyahoga Falls Avenue for a shooting around 11:18 a.m. on Monday. Upon arrival, officers found no victims, but did find evidence of a crime.
Minutes after receiving the call, officers were notified of a shooting victim outside of a residence located in the 900 block of Oakland Avenue. Officers found the 21-year-old male victim there with multiple gunshot wounds and proceeded to administer emergency first aid before he was transported to Summa Health Akron City Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
As officers were processing the scene on E. Cuyahoga Falls Avenue, a 19-year-old male was brought to the hospital with a gunshot wound and was determined to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries. An initial investigation determined that the two men exchanged fire outside of a business on E. Cuyahoga Falls Avenue.
An investigation remains ongoing as officers attempt to piece together the circumstances surrounding the incident.
