AKRON, Ohio — A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged with aggravated robbery amid allegations he robbed a Circle K in Akron using a machete.

Upon their arrival at the scene in the 1800 block of Triplett Boulevard around 9:47 a.m. Monday, officers say the clerk reported a masked man had entered the store and demanded money. The suspect was given an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene on foot.

“During a search of the area, officers located some of the suspect’s discarded clothing and other evidence of the crime in the 600 block of Baldwin Avenue,” police said. “Officers also spotted and detained a subject matching the suspect's description and transported him to the police station for questioning.”

Police say that suspect -- identified as Justin Rodgers -- was connected to the crime and booked into the Summit County Jail. Police say he also had unrelated active felony warrants.

No injuries were reported.
