AKRON, Ohio — Authorities are investigating after a 65-year-old man was killed in an Akron crash Thursday evening.
The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office says the incident happened around 7:20 p.m. The man was driving westbound on W. Thornton Street when he lost control at the intersection of Rhodes Avenue and struck a telephone pole head-on, according to a press release distributed to the media on Friday morning.
He was taken to the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 7:42 p.m. An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday.
The man’s name has not been released.
