Following a series of mass shootings across the country and local gun-related incidents, the United Methodist clergy and laity will hold a "Walk for Our Lives" against gun violence in Akron on Wednesday.
Those taking part in the walk are asked to gather outside the John S. Knight Center, located at 77 E. Mill St., at 3 p.m. on Wednesday. Tracy S. Malone, resident bishop of the East Ohio Conference of The United Methodist Church, will address those gathered at 4 p.m. before leading a 1.4-mile walk to Family of Faith UMC at 800 E. Market Street.
Once at the church, Bishop Malone and fellow community leaders will speak out against gun violence in a prayer vigil and program. The event is expected to conclude by 6 p.m.
