ASHTABULA, Ohio — A man has died following an overnight shooting involving the Ashtabula Police Department.
Authorities say the situation started shortly after midnight Wednesday when officers “received a call advising of a suicidal man armed with a shotgun on the Spring Street bridge in the city of Ashtabula.”
Upon their arrival, authorities say officers initiated a dialogue with the man and made multiple attempts to persuade him to put the gun down.
“The man was shot as he approached officers and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter,” police said
Based on protocol, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation was called to conduct an investigation of the incident.
