CLEVELAND — An investigation is underway after a teenage boy was shot in Cleveland outside of Marion-Sterling School on Thursday.
Cleveland police say the shooting happened on East 30th Street near Cedar Avenue at approximately 10:40 a.m.
According to a Cleveland Metropolitan School District spokesperson, an eighth-grade student enrolled at Marion-Sterling Elementary exited the school with his aunt at approximately 10:30 a.m.
Shortly after walking out of the building, CMSD says the student was a shot in a vacant field adjacent to the school.
The student was transported by EMS to an area hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
The CMSD says its Division of Safety and Security has obtained leads about possible assailants and has shared this information with Cleveland police investigators.
3News had a crew at the scene and witnessed officers searching the field. In addition, Cleveland Metropolitan School District CEO Dr. Warren Morgan was seen walking through the scene.
At this time, no arrests have been made in connection to the shooting. The incident remains an active investigation by the Cleveland Division of Police.
