CLEVELAND — There is more good news for Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.
On Wednesday, Sun Country Airlines announced that it will launch new nonstop service from CLE to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport starting in May.
The new route will operate four times a week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from May 17 through Labor Day weekend. Fares will start as low as $19 one way.
“We are thrilled to welcome Sun Country, adding to our increasingly diverse roster of airlines at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport,” said Bryant L. Francis, C.M., Director of Port Control who oversees Hopkins. “Sun Country provides yet another affordable option for Northeast Ohio residents and visitors by offering nonstop service between CLE and the Twin Cities and connections to the West Coast from its home base in Minneapolis/St. Paul.”
Sun Country says Cleveland will join 98 other airports that the carrier will serve non-stop from Minneapolis-St. Paul in 2024. The airline operates 120 routes serving 104 airports across the U.S., Mexico, Canada, Central America, and the Caribbean.
With Wednesday's announcement, passengers from CLE will have two low-cost options to get to the Twin Cities. Earlier this week, Frontier Airlines announced it will be launching daily nonstop service from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport to New York's LaGuardia Airport starting on April 10, plus nonstop service four days a week to Minneapolis-St. Paul beginning May 17.
A total of 11 airlines will fly out of Cleveland Hopkins International Airport once Sun Country begins service in May.
