CLEVELAND — A 22-year-old suspect who was wanted for his alleged involvement in two separate homicides in Cleveland was arrested on Thursday morning.
According to the U.S. Marshals Service, 22-year-old Malik Blackwell was arrested and taken into custody after being located at an apartment building in the 26000 block of Lakeshore Blvd. in Euclid. Blackwell was wanted by Cleveland Police as a suspect in two separate homicides that took place this year.
The first homicide occurred on January 23 when 61-year-old Timothy Nash was found fatally shot at a home in the 2300 block of East 61st St. A warrant for Blackwell's arrest was subsequently issued.
A warrant was also issued for Blackwell's arrest following the fatal shooting of 40-year-old Anthony Norman on April 7. Norman was found with multiple gunshot wounds, lying in a driveway in the 4900 block of Anson Ave.
The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) had been searching for Blackwell since the homicide that occurred in January. Late Wednesday night, investigators were able to identify his hiding spot as the apartment in Euclid, where he was ultimately arrested.
“This suspect caused havoc and grief for community members in the city of Cleveland," U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said in a statement. "He is behind bars and the city is a safer place with him there."
