Lakewood police recover body from Lake Erie; 4th victim pulled from water in last week

The latest news comes following the recoveries of three other bodies connected to separate incidents in Cleveland.

LAKEWOOD, Ohio — Police in Lakewood confirm they have recovered a body from the waters of Lake Erie in Lakewood.

Officials say a city resident on Erie Cliff Drive went to investigate their backyard storage shed that had been broken into when they discovered the body floating in the lake. Authorities were called to the scene soon after, with members of the Lakewood Fire Department and EMS also responding.

The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Lakewood native Colin Brady. Officials have not mentioned a possible connection, if any, to the shed burglary.

This marks the fourth time in the last week someone has been found dead in Lake Erie, beginning last Monday when the remains of 44-year-old Elce Malik-Bey and 45-year-old Raymond Lumpkin were located near the East 55th Street Marina after the two went missing during a fishing trip. On Sunday, crews also discovered the body of 39-year-old James R. Brooks off the coast of Euclid Beach Park.

The investigation of this latest case remains ongoing, per the Lakewood Police Department. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy.
