SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio — The Shaker Heights Police Department has announced the passing of its beloved K-9 officer Roman.
According to a post on the department's Facebook page, "after bravely serving our community, Roman passed away due to health complications."
Roman was born in the Czech Republic in 2016, but became "a cherished member" of Shaker Heights' police family. His handler was Corporal David Emlaw.
"His dedication, bravery, and unwavering spirit touched many lives," Shaker Heights police added in its post.
"Rest in peace, Roman. Your watch has ended, but your spirit remains with us."
