MENTOR-ON-THE-LAKE, Ohio — The City of Mentor-on-the-Lake is seeking donations for a family following a house fire that occurred on Sunday.
According to the city's Facebook page, the fire occurred on Walnut Street and left a single mother and her three young children without a home. The family was also unable to salvage any of their belongings from the fire.
In an effort to help the family, the city is seeking donations of cash and/or gift cards. The city noted that cash and gift cards are appreciated, as the family doesn't currently have anywhere to store other donations.
"Any $ is appreciated as this unfortunate situation has left the family without a home, furniture, clothes and daily essentials," the city wrote.
Donations can be dropped off at Mentor-on-the-Lake City Hall, located at 5860 Andrews Rd, during business hours between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Following business hours, donations can be securely dropped off into a black lock box inside of City Hall labeled “Donations."
The homeowner is asking that if comfortable, you leave your name and address with your donation. A GoFundMe page has also been set up with a state goal of $5,000.
