EASTLAKE, Ohio — Eastlake Mayor Dennis Morley passed away on Sunday following "a short battle with an aggressive cancer," the city confirmed to 3News in a statement on Monday.
Morley was serving his third term as Eastlake's mayor and also held the role of safety director. Prior to becoming Eastlake's mayor, Morley served as a councilman-at-large from 2005 to 2014. He was the president of Eastlake City Council from 2010 to 2014.
"Everyone that knew him knows his first concern while he fought, was for his two amazing daughters. He absolutely loved serving as the mayor of such a great community and his leadership and dedication to Eastlake and Lake County will be missed," said Judy Moran, administrative assistant to Morley.
Morley grew up in Willowick and graduated from Eastlake North High School in 1976. He moved to Eastlake permanently in 1981.
