MENTOR, Ohio — If your plans to beat the extreme heat this week included a swim at the Mentor Headlands beach, you will need to find a different place to cool off because the state park will be "fully closed" for several days due to a movie production.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources confirms the Headlands Beach State Park closure will be in effect on the following dates:
- Monday, June 17
- Tuesday, June 18
- Thursday, June 20
- Friday, June 21
A spokesperson for ODNR tells 3News the park and nature preserve will be open June 19 for the Juneteenth holiday.
The closure comes as a movie crew has set up their production on Mentor Headlands beach. Earlier this week, 3News captured some aerial footage (watch below) from the scene that shows various tents and equipment.
What's the movie? While no official confirmation has been provided, we do know that a project currently labeled as “Genesis” -- which is widely believed to be the new Superman movie directed by James Gunn -- is slated to begin filming in our area very soon.
Back in April, Angela Boehm Casting said Cleveland “shoot dates” for the “Genesis” project were scheduled for June 17 to July 16. They also noted that filming will take place in Cincinnati from July 17-18.
