WILLOUGHBY, Ohio — Police from several Lake County communities responded to the scene of a fatal shooting at the Mentor Green Mobile Home Park on Thursday night in Willoughby.
Mentor officials held a press conference Friday morning in which the victims and suspect were all identified. They also released new details of the incident, which you can see in our updated coverage here.
A Mentor spokesperson tells 3News that three people are dead and one other person has been taken to an area hospital. The suspect barricaded himself inside a trailer, but has since been found dead with what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
"Basically, they tried to make contact with him and, you know, they didn't hear back," city of Mentor Public Information Officer Ante Logarusic told 3News. "And then eventually, of course, they took their time and they found him deceased."
The incident resulted in an hours-long standoff prior to the suspect's body being located.
Residents tell WKYC that Mentor Green Mobile Home Park is a 55-and-over community, and those still on the property at the time of the shooting were evacuated to the Mentor Senior Center. The names of the victims as well as the suspect have not been released at this time.
"I have a lot of friends who live there and I don't know if any of them are hurt or dead, and that's what worries me," Larry Morrow, who's lived at the complex for 23 years, said. "It's normally a quiet place. There's never any problem there."
Law enforcement agencies and the Ohio BCI are investigating the matter.
