EASTLAKE, Ohio — *EDITOR'S NOTE: The above video is from a previous story.
It was minor on the Richter scale, but residents in Lake County reported feeling yet another earthquake late Friday afternoon.
The United States Geological Survey confirms the 2.4 magnitude quake occurred around 4:14 p.m. off the shores of Lake Erie near Eastlake and Willoughby. It's the seventh such quake in the area already this year, and the second in three days.
More than a dozen calls later came in that spoke of weak shaking, but no damage occurred. The quake itself was about two miles offshore and three miles deep.
"Quakes here in [Northeast Ohio] aren't like those in the California or elsewhere. We don’t have giant faults," the USGC said in a statement. "We have ancient faults (some are also known as magnetic faults) that tend to groan and pop (much like my knees these days)," It is very rare for us to have a quake that causes damage – although they can happen."
