Lorain City Schools announces job cuts, new administrative roles

The decision comes as a effort to reorganize the administrative staff

LORAIN COUNTY, Ohio — Change continues for Lorain City Schools.

On Tuesday, CEO Greg Ring announced that the school district would be eliminating approximately 45 administrative jobs in pursuit of a more traditional school model.

As of July 31, all chief positions, dean positions, some director positions and specific administrative positions will be eliminated.

" None of these reductions are about personal job performance," said Ring.

The decision comes as a effort to reorganize the administrative staff to " save money and achieve better educational outcomes," Ring said in a press release.

With the adaptation of a more traditional model, Ring also plans to add 25 new positions, such as assistant principals and principals to the district.

According to Ring, laid-off employees, if properly licensed, will have the opportunity to apply to the newly added positions.
