Bar fight leads to fatal shooting in Columbia Station; suspect in custody

40-year-old Olmsted Township resident James Arthur Stewart is being held in a Lorain County jail on 'several charges,' including murder.

CLEVELAND — A man is dead and another is in police custody after a bar fight led to a deadly shooting in Columbia Station on Friday night, Lorain County authorities confirmed. 

According to the Lorain County Sheriff's Office, a physical fight had broken out between patrons at Jokers Pub and Grub on Sprague Road. Police allege one of the men involved, 40-year-old Olmsted Township resident James Arthur Stewart, pulled a handgun and fatally shot another man. 

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is not being released at this time, police said, pending notification of the victim's family.

Police arrested Stewart at the scene. He is being held without bond at the Lorain County Correctional Facility. According to police, Stewart faces "several charges," including murder. 

Lorain County detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting. 

"For further details, please contact the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau at 440-329-3710," the sheriff's office said.
