CLEVELAND — On Friday’s Lunch Break with Jay Crawford, the menu included “HERstory in the making” with NASA’s first all-female spacewalk, the best Sweetest Day plans and a new Ohio bill that would push school start times back to at least 8:30 A.M. across the board.

This morning, astronauts Christina Koch and Jessica Meir ventured outside the International Space Station for spacewalk 421. The women will spend about five hours in space while they replace a broken battery charger. The walk was supposed to happen in March, but it was canceled because there weren’t enough spacesuits that would fit a woman’s body in the space station.

Men have floated outside the hatch on all 420 spacewalks prior to today. There are four men on the International Space Station right now, but they will all stay inside today. NASA has called today’s events “HERstory in the making.”

In Ohio, Senator Sandra Williams has proposed a bill that would require schools to start no earlier than 8:30 A.M., for safety reasons as well as to help students get the most out of their school day.

Jay lunched with 3News’ Maureen Kyle, and the two sat down with Kristen Jantonio from Destination Cleveland to talk about the history behind Sweetest Day ahead of its 97th anniversary, and what the best, easiest and cheapest options are for celebrating on Saturday.
