According to OSHP, a 2015 Jeep Wrangler driving southbound on West River Road veered off the right side of the roadway and struck a culvert storm drain cover.

"The Jeep became airborne and overturned several times before striking a large raised flower bed, fence post, and tree. The Jeep came to final rest in a private driveway off the west side of West River Road," according to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The driver, who authorities said was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. He has since been identified as 37-year-old Shane Webb of Willard.

Following an initial investigation, officials suspect that alcohol, drugs and speed were factors in the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Huron County Sheriff’s Office, Wakeman Fire Department, Wakeman Police Department, Citizens Ambulance and Interstate Towing.

At this time, the crash remains under investigation.
