Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine won't hold Wednesday press conference; will return Thursday

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine won't hold a press conference on Wednesday to address the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine won't be holding a daily press conference on Wednesday, but is expected to return to the podium on Thursday to address the latest regarding the state's response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

On Tuesday, a number of businesses and industries, including gyms, BMV locations, pools, and low contact and no contact sports were permitted to resume, as Ohio continues the process of reopening its economy. Additionally on Tuesday, DeWine announced that the state is taking a number of measures to increase testing at nursing homes, including the testing of all nursing home employees.

As for businesses that remain closed, day camps and daycare centers have been given permission to resume business on May 31. Meanwhile, the following industries in the state remain closed until further notice:

  • Movie theaters
  • Casinos and racinos
  • Zoos and aquariums
  • Amusement parks
  • Water parks
  • Mass gatherings, including sporting events and concerts

As of Wednesday, Ohio has had 33,439  confirmed and probable positive coronavirus cases, including 5,700 hospitalizations, 1,492 ICU admissions and 2,044 deaths.
