CLEVELAND — Wkyc Studios first put out the call to help collect 10,000 homemade masks for the Greater Cleveland Food Bank and their partner agencies last month. Since then, Northeast Ohioans have been stitching up a storm!
So far, we've collected more than 5,000 masks. Each and every one of the millions of stitches is appreciated.
The Greater Cleveland Food Bank has 800 food distribution sites across Northeast Ohio, and around 200 additional programs they support will be getting back to work soon. So the masks will definitely make a difference.
Elastic!
Hudson headquartered Joann Fabric and Crafts Stores made a wonderful donation to the Food Bank: Elastic! Thousands of feet of "that which has become as precious as gold" 1/4 inch white elastic.
So, how can you get some in order to help the food bank?
A unique partnership with Pins and Needles stores has developed.
The elastic (and other supplies to make masks) is available at all three Pins and Needles stores as well as the Food Bank itself. You can also drop off completed masks at the stores and they'll help to get them to the Food Bank.
