KENT, Ohio — The Kent Police Department says a threat made against Walls Elementary School on Friday caused the evacuation of three buildings in the district.
According to a release from police, at approximately 2:00 pm, a man called Walls Elementary School and threatened to bring an AK-47 rifle to the school.
In response to the threat, school administrators contacted the Kent Police Department. Officers arrived on scene and helped provide for the safe evacuation of students, faculty and staff at Walls School.
In addition, three other schools in the district also took similar precautionary safety measures to clear their buildings. With the assistance of the Kent Police Department and the Kent State University Police Department, students, faculty, and staff were dismissed safely.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
