Troopers say Edward M. Matako, 79, of Massillon, was heading west on Lincoln Way in his 2019 Lexus, when his vehicle traveled left of center, hitting a Nissan Murano head on that was going eastbound on Lincoln Way. The Lexus continued further on the road, striking a Ford Focus that was also traveling eastbound on Lincoln Way.

Matako was taken by Perry Township EMS to Aultman Hospital in Canton where he was pronounced dead. There is no word on if the other two drivers sustained any injuries.

Troopers say all drivers were wearing their seatbelts. Alcohol and drugs are not a factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.

Perry Township Police Department and Perry Township Fire Department assisted on scene.
