SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio — The Springfield Township Police Department has identified the human skeletal remains that were found last Friday.
Using dental records, forensic experts identified the deceased as 42-year-old Aaron Scott Davis of Springfield Township. Police say Davis was reported missing in April of 2018 and had no permanent address at the time of his disappearance.
The remains were found by a resident gathering firewood in a wooded area near Mogadore Road and the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railway. Police worked with the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office and the Mercyhurst University Department of Archaeology and Anthropology to identify the remains.
The circumstances and manner of Davis' death are under investigation.
The Springfield Township Police Department is asking anyone who has information that can assist in the investigation to please call Detective Robert Scherer at 330-784-1609.
