AKRON, Ohio — Check your tickets! We have a big lottery winner in Northeast Ohio after somebody bought a winning Powerball ticket worth $1 million from the Giant Eagle store at 484 East Waterloo Road in Akron for the drawing on Saturday, June 22, 2024.
$1 million is the second-tier Powerball prize -- and the odds of winning that amount are listed at one in 11,688,054.
The big winner hit the $1 million prize after matching the Powerball's five white balls -- only missing the $72 million jackpot for failing to match the Powerball. It was an auto-pick ticket, according to the Ohio Lottery.
"The winning ticket holder has 180 days from the draw date to claim their prize," according to the Ohio Lottery. "As of June 24, the prize remains unclaimed. The store receives a $1,000 sales bonus."
