The Cleveland Browns may not have met their lofty expectations in 2019, but that didn't stop their players from being plenty popular. In particular, quarterback Baker Mayfield and wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. manage to feverish followings.
That much was clear on Friday, when Variety reported the full rankings for NFL player merchandise sales from March of 2019 through February of this year. And while the most notable news was that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has surpassed Tom Brady as the league's best-selling player, it was also notable that two members of the Browns ranked in the top 10, with Mayfield coming in at No. 5 and Beckham measuring at No. 7.
Compiled by the NFL Players Association each year since 2014, the list of top-selling players is based on sales of officially licensed player-identified merchandise, including jerseys, trading cards, wall decals, t-shirt and bobbleheads. Brady -- who ranked first in each of the previous two years -- came in second on this year's list, ahead of Baltimore Ravens MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson, Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott, Mayfield, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Beckham.
Chicago Bears linebacker Khalil Mack, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and tight end George Kittle round out the top 10. No other Browns made the top 50 of this year's list.
