On Thursday, Jedrick Wills Jr. found out where he'll be beginning his NFL career.
Now the former Alabama offensive tackle knows what jersey number he'll be wearing while doing so.
Taking to Twitter on Monday evening, Wills revealed that he'll be wearing uniform No. 71 as a member of the Cleveland Browns. The jersey number Wills wore during his college career with Crimson Tide, 74, is currently occupied by offensive tackle Chris Hubbard, while his high school number, 73, was worn in Cleveland by Joe Thomas and while not yet retired, is presumably off-limits.
"Starting my own legacy," Wills wrote in a Twitter post announcing his new number, which also included a photoshopped picture of himself in a new Browns uniform.
According to a Twitter poll posted earlier in the day, Wills had also been considering wearing No. 72.
A 2019 All-SEC first-team and second-team All-American selection, the Browns selected Wills with the No. 10 pick of the 2020 NFL Draft last week. Despite predominantly playing right tackle at Alabama, the former 4-star prospect is expected to transition to left tackle at the pro level, filling what had been one of the biggest voids on Cleveland's depth chart entering the draft.
