CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Browns made a flurry of roster moves Saturday ahead of their Sunday afternoon matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Defensive tackle Maurice Hurst II (ankle) has been activated from injured reserve alongside linebacker Mohamoud Diabate (hip). Both were full participants in practice Friday after taking limited snaps earlier in the week. Diabate and Hurst both appeared in the Browns' season-opening loss to the Dallas Cowboys and were placed on injured reserve on Sept. 11.
DT Mike Hall was also activated from the commissioner's exempt list after serving a 5-game suspension under the league's personal conduct policy.
Hall was expected to play a major role in the team's front seven, but things were thrown into flux on the evening of Aug. 12, when Avon police took the 21-year-old into custody for allegedly assaulting the mother of his young son.
In the original incident report, Hall's fiancée claimed he dragged her and held a gun to her head before telling her, "I will (expletive) end it all." However, she later recanted part of her statement, telling prosecutors she was "mistaken" when she claimed Hall "pressed the firearm against her temple" and threatened her.
Hall was initially charged with domestic violence and assault. On Sept. 19, Hall chose to plead no contest to a lesser charge of disorderly conduct and was sentenced to a 30-day suspended jail sentence along with two years of probation.
Offensive tackle James Hudson III, who was out last week with a shoulder injury, has been placed on injured reserve.
To free up roster space, the Browns cut wide receiver and kick returner James Proche II. Proche registered 119 total yards in 13 returns over four games this year. He will be replaced by receiver Jaelon Darden, a third-year returner out of North Texas who has been elevated from the practice squad.
Cleveland also elevated undrafted rookie safety Christopher Edmonds, who has spent the season so far on the practice squad.
