CLEVELAND — Odell Beckham Jr. may no longer be wearing a watch in games.
But the Cleveland Browns' star wide receiver's on-field fashion will still be easy to find.
On Sunday, the Browns will host the Los Angeles Rams in their first matchup on Sunday Night Football in 11 years. But before they do, Beckham will take the field for pre-game warmups in a new colorway of his signature Nike Vapor Untouchable Pro 3 OBJ Uptempo cleats.
While his previous two pregame cleats this season paid homage to Air Jordan colorways, this week's space-themed design is a nod to Nike's 2012 Air Foamposite One “Galaxy."
While Beckham's pregame cleats will continue his previous trend of wearing colorways tied to shoes from his personal Nike collection, he'll don a more traditional look come kickoff. During Cleveland's primetime contest vs. the reigning NFC champs, the 3-time Pro Bowl selection will wear a flooded all-brown version of his signature cleats.
According to Nike, the colorway isn't tied to any previous shoe design, but rather a nod to the primary color of the Browns, who will wear their brown-and-orange 'Color Rush' uniforms vs. the Rams on Sunday.
Prior to the start of the 2019 season, Nike announced that it would be creating custom colorways for Beckham's pre-game and in-game cleats.
“This season we wanted to bring Odell’s off-the-field style into the stadium every week by taking a look at his sneaker closet for a source of inspiration,” said Nike designer Erin Cochrane. “We worked closely with Odell to incorporate his favorite sneaker designs from the Nike vault onto his player edition Vapor Untouchable Pro 3 OBJ Uptempo cleat week by week.”
Earlier this week, Beckham made waves with a different type endorsement deal, as Swedish watchmaker Daniel Wellington announced the 2014 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year as its latest "icon." Beckham's new deal came after two weeks in which he was spotted on-field wearing Richard Mille models, which ranged from $190,000-$2 million in value.
"There's always a method to the madness," Beckham said with a smile on Wednesday. "This partnership with Daniel Wellington, I'm really happy to do that. Again, I'm off of the -- the watch topic, I'm going to leave it alone. I'm just strictly on football. Now you know Daniel Wellington, so that's the bottom line. I'm not talking about watches anymore."
