PARIS, France — Canton is represented at the 2024 Olympics in Paris as 21-year-old Marcus Christopher competes for Team USA in cycling BMX freestyle -- and he's now advanced to the finals on Wednesday.
He qualified for the medal round during the competition Tuesday after achieving the following scores:
- Run 1: 90.10
- Run 2: 88.87
- Average score: 89.48
He finished second overall amid 12 total competitors.

Christopher will get his shot at a medal during the BMX freestyles, which are set for 8:45 a.m. ET on Wednesday. You can watch live coverage on USA or streaming on Peacock.
Born in Hartville, Christopher currently resides in Canton. This marks his first time in the Summer Games.
