CLEVELAND — Ohio's Hunter Armstrong now has some silver to go with his gold.
The Dover native swam anchor as the United States men's team finished second place to China in the 4x100-meter medley at the Summer Olympics in Paris on Sunday.
While a silver medal is nothing to scoff at, it came as a surprise and a disappointment for the Americans, who had won gold in the event at every Olympics other than the boycotted Moscow Games in 1980.
The U.S. finished with a time of 3:28.01, while China claimed gold with 3:27.46. Armstrong led the Americans with a 47.19 second time in the final leg.
The silver is Armstrong's second medal in Paris. He helped the U.S. men win gold in the 4x100 freestyle relay last Saturday.
Armstrong was eliminated in the semifinals of the individual 100m backstroke event last Sunday.
