WATCH | The "What's New Olympics" return with Winter Games for a rematch between Team Betsy and Team Jay

Who will take home the gold? Will it be the "nerds" in red for a second time, or will the "jocks" in blue make a comeback?

CLEVELAND — With the 2022 Winter Olympic Games underway in Beijing, the "What's New" crew is getting in on the fun again with the return of their own Olympic showdown.

Led by What's New co-host Betsy Kling, meteorologist Matt Wintz and digital anchor Stephanie Haney rounded out the red team. The blue team, led by co-host Jay Crawford, included entertainment news reporter Kierra Cotton and producer Monique Zappa. 3News' Mike Polk Jr. served as referee for the heated competition.

The two teams fought hard across three events; the snowball toss, trivia, and a balloon toss at targets marked with the faces of Jay and Betsy.

Much like during the "What's New" Summer Games held during the delayed 2020 Summer Olympics held over the summer, the "What's New" Winter Games resulted in another win for the red team, affectionately nicknamed the "nerds." The "jocks" in blue fought hard but took another loss when everything was all said and done.

While the blue team took an early lead with a win in the snowball toss, the red team pulled out all the stops and won both the trivia and balloon toss events and were declared the victors in Cleveland.

In the end, each team gave it their all but the strategy of the "nerds" to try to trip up the "jocks" was successful, earning the red team their second gold medal victory in the "What's New" Olympics.

The good news is the blue team has two years to practice up for the next "What's New" Olympic games, tentatively scheduled for Summer of 2024.
