CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Division of Police has confirmed to 3News that two people were killed and another injured in a two-vehicle crash this morning on I-490 West, just west of East 55th Street.

Police say the crash happened at around 5:50 a.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found that the driver of one of the vehicles, a 45-year-old man, was pronounced dead by Cleveland EMS. Two women from the other vehicle, the 34-year-old driver and a 37-year-old passenger, were both transported to a nearby hospital. Police say the 37-year-old woman passenger died at the hospital.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victims in the crash as James Wells IV of Elyria and Shalon Barnett of Cleveland.
The crash closed all lanes of I-490 at East 55th Street in Cleveland for several hours this morning, according to ODOT. The westbound roadway reopened at around 10:15 a.m., while the eastbound lanes reopened at 10:45 a.m.
